I'm based in Carbon's Glasgow office, but spend time in both our Edinburgh and London offices.

Specialties
I work with individuals and families, and my role is to create a simple, clear plan that will help you achieve what you want. That plan may include investment advice, guidance regarding pensions, and ways to minimise tax. I have a specialism in helping individuals through separation and divorce (in Scotland - the rules are different north and south of the border), helping to ease one of the strains at a very challenging time in an individual's life.

About My Practice
Carbon Financial Partners Limited is one of the UK’s leading independent financial planning, pensions and investment advice firms. We can make this claim based on the quality of the team, our awards, our ethics and our professionalism. At Carbon, the rule is to put our clients’ interests first at all times. We will explain clearly what we can do for you, set out the benefits to you and agree a price for the work with you before we proceed. That way you can weigh up the benefits to you and the cost of the advice so you can make a fully informed decision about whether to proceed. Our advice should be worth considerably more than the fees to be paid.

About Richard Wadsworth
I have nearly 30 years’ experience as a financial planner. After graduating and spending a year as a trainee accountant, I worked with Standard Life in Aberdeen and Dundee before moving to London to see if the streets really paved with gold and to work in investment management. In 1999 I returned to Scotland where I was part of a small team advising the UK partners of Ernst & Young on their personal financial situations. And following the sale of this division of Ernst & Young, I established a successful fee-based financial planning firm in Glasgow in 2004. I joined Carbon in 2012.

Ideal Clients
I’m a financial planner who believes that personal finance is as much about ‘personal’ as ‘finance’. For most people money is neither interesting nor important, it just allows us to do interesting or important things. My ideal client shares this view and appreciates that determining the interesting or important things is the starting point for financial planning.

Qualifications
Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (FCSI), Chartered Wealth Manager, Chartered Financial Planner, Certified Financial Planner, Affiliate member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), Registered Life Planner.

Compensation
We are fee based, with any and all fees being discussed and agreed up front.
